Gather Requirements

During the requirement gathering phase we prioritize understanding your organization's unique needs and objectives. There are no cookie cutter designs here. We make sure you have the correct solution that meets your requirements by:

  1. Obtaining Floorplans: We begin by obtaining detailed floorplans of your premises, allowing us to visualize the physical layout and plan for optimal access point placement.

  2.  Capacity Assessment: We assess capacity requirements for various spaces, including rooms and open areas, to ensure that the Wi-Fi network can support the expected number of users without degradation in performance.

  3. Defining Roaming Paths: By defining roaming paths for clients, we ensure seamless connectivity as users move throughout your facility, preventing interruptions or dropped connections.

  4. Needs Assessment: We engage in thorough discussions with stakeholders to identify specific needs and use cases. This includes determining if a high-density deployment is necessary for areas with a large concentration of users, if location services for asset tracking or wayfinding are required, or if there is a need for voice or data-only deployment.

WALK-THROUGH

  • We verify the accuracy of the floorplan, noting any deviations or potential obstacles that will impact the signal.

  • We evaluate wall density in different areas to anticipate potential signal attenuation.

  • We use spectrum analysis to scan the 2.4, 5, and 6GHz bands to identify and mitigate non-Wi-Fi interference sources that could degrade performance.

  • We employ the AP on a stick methodology to simulate access point placement, validating coverage and signal strength throughout the premises

Design

  • Our priority is to align the chosen Wi-Fi vendor (Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus, etc..) with your deployment requirements and budget constraints. 

  • We collaborate closely with your installers to develop comprehensive installation guides for mounting gear, access points, and antennas, ensuring smooth implementation. 

  • Drawing from the information gathered during the walk-through, we create detailed RF plans that specify access point power levels and channel assignments, optimizing coverage and minimizing interference. 

  • We meticulously assess your existing wired infrastructure, including switching, routing, DHCP, and 802.1X configurations, to confirm compatibility with the proposed Wi-Fi solution.

IMPLEMENTATION

  • We collaborate closely with your installers to verify that access points and antennas are installed precisely according to the design specifications, including correct locations, heights, and orientations

  • Through meticulous on-site inspections, we ensure that every component is positioned to maximize coverage and minimize interference.

  • We conduct comprehensive spectrum and Wi-Fi analysis to confirm that no new wireless interference has been introduced to the environment during the installation process.

Wireless Validation Survey and Report

As part of our comprehensive services at McHenry WiFi Consulting, we conduct a thorough validation survey to ensure all project requirements are met and exceeded. Our validation process encompasses various crucial elements, and upon completion, we deliver a detailed report tailored to your specific needs. This report includes:

  1. Wireless Heatmap: A graphical representation of wireless signal strength and coverage across the premises, providing insights into areas of strong and weak signal reception.

  2. Coverage Analysis: An outline highlighting areas that either meet or fall short of the outlined coverage requirements, enabling targeted adjustments for optimal performance.

  3. RF Channel Plan: A meticulously crafted plan specifying radio frequency channels assigned to each access point, designed to minimize interference and maximize efficiency.

  4. Checklists: Comprehensive checklists detailing all aspects of the deployment, from hardware installation to network configuration, ensuring nothing is overlooked during implementation.

  5. Technical Support Information: Contact details and resources for accessing technical support, ensuring ongoing assistance and guidance for any issues that may arise post-deployment.
